We’re not really pushing street style on this blog. It’s not exactly my biggest interest. But I recently came across the customized sneakers from Brass Monkey and that is something that could make me consider replacing my (very old) Nikes.

Only problem: What design to use? Plus a £250 – £750 price range doesn’t really agree with my sneaker budget.

MINIMARKET

Rumble in the jungle
By Marie Graunboel

The sound of birds singing followed by an energetic drumbeat echoed in the majestic halls of Copenhagen City Hall when Swedish Minimarket invited us on an African safari (guided trip to the jungle included). The three sisters Sofie, Pernilla and Jennifer Elvestedt behind Minimarket were going for the trans-global vibe presenting a collection revolving around dusty orange and bright blues mixed with simple ethnic prints and an awful lot of black! A departure from previous season’s experiments with shapes and fabrics, this time the designers played it safe with simple shorts, light dresses, colored blazers and comfortable, loose pants. The surprises were few, but one thing stood out: A refreshing change from the usual line-up of stone-faced models, a flirtatious black girl acted like she actually had fun on the runway! Understandably so – who wouldn’t like to go on a Safari?!

WOOD WOOD

Worth the wait

By Marie Graunboel:

The queues were endless and the waiting was close to intolerable. But the successful Danish label Wood Wood didn’t seem to bother with the busy schedule of buyers, fashion reporters and the seemingly endless crows of street kids and skater-boys waiting eagerly to know what to expect in Spring 2011. And then – finally – something happened! Men in white canvas trainers, soaking wet khaki trousers and tight shirts printed with the marks of black lipstick-kisses entered the room leaving grey footprints on the improvised runway on the floors of the contemporary art museum Den Frie. Soon the women followed – hair drawn back in wet layers decorated with colored tribal-like adornments and wearing skimpy, transparent t-shirts, heavy denim or leather and spacious backpacks. Before you knew, the last model had left the building – and the waiting started all over again. But it was time well spent!

Use protection!

Finally, summer has arrived in Berlin! Need to get hold of my favorite sunscreen that I discovered last year in Kos. Sweet Orange SPF 25 from all natural greek brand Korres. For some reason I can’t find it on their webshop but it’s available on eg. Amazon.

I bought some additional pieces to put in my already packed closet. But (!) I really needed a new pair of heels, I mean I reaaally needed a pair, i’v also been looking for a maxi skirt (to the right) now for a long time and finally found the perfect one so I couldn’t really walk away from that one. About the Stine Goya necklace – it was on SALE – couldn’t really walk away from that pretty thing either, besides I have wanted a necklace from her for a long time. The rest is just H&M and Zara, budget stuff, pretty pretty budget stuff, just look at the dress! My god, can’t wait to wear it. The print reminds me a lil of Alexander McQueen SS10
