Iberian vibes

Just came home from my 11 days stay on Ibiza. Loooove!! It was my first time there, visiting a friend who’s lived there throughout every season since 1998 -- the best “guide” possible!

My friend works for We Love, so of course I spent a lot of time with the rest of the crew, celebrating my birthday at Space/DC10, going out for dinner, drinks, to the beach… you know, holiday stuff.

A few impressions…

Ibiza Love

It’s my last night here in Ibiza and I’m devastated.

I could stay here at least one month. This island is addicting. The sea, the people, the restaurants, the clubs and chilled ambience is right up my alley.

I’m staying here with an amazing crowd from all over the world. The last couple of days have been an abundance of top dinners, fun parties, clubs, long lunches, boat trips and some work. What I love about the time we live in now is, that it’s possible to do these trips where you are having the time of your life while still working. I feel extremely blessed to be in a spot where this is possible. It gives me a sense of freedom and joi de vivre that’s beyond.

And Ibiza is way more than crazy drugged out people, trance and Pacha. It has a beauty that is striking and it makes me want to come back for more. And more… Tomorrow I’m going back to Copenhagen for one day. Then I’m participating in my father’s conference in Odense about Artificial Life and Living Technology (talk about a change of scenery) and Wednesday I’m off to NYC. I’m researching for my next book.

Here are a few pics. I will share more, when I have time. We just got back from a boat trip to Formentera and now we are going to dinner.

xx KK

Ibiza Time

Going to Ibiza for a bit and as usual I’m in a rush when packing and I haven’t got the faintest idea what I brought here. Why am I this unorganized? And why does it surprise me every time that I’m unorganized…?

But it’s Ibiza and as long as you like the beach, rosé, music, tattoos and long lunches in Formentera I guess you’ll be fine.

I’m here to hang with a beautiful bunch of friends from NYC who have a house here. And it’s the most insanely amazing spot. I kid you not! Will take some pics and show you as we go a long.

Scandinavian Summer

finalnd

I just got home from a holiday on the finnish west coast with my family. It’s a place called Skaftung in the swedish part of Finland where we go every year. Everyone speak a “version” of swedish, like a dialect. Have u ever seen Moomin you know what I’m talking about ;-) We went boating, swimming, fishing, had a lot of good food and wine, did some shopping, played a lot of cards etc. It was so nice and relaxing, I really love going there. It’s one of my favorite places in the world.

From Greece With Love

This morning very early in the a.m. we left our Greek village and found us self south bound. We had breakfast at some random little tavern at the beach we discovered by coincidence and we dipped in the ocean before the eggs were ready and the oranges were squeezed into glasses. Then we took off again until we hit our destination Aquila Atlantic Hotel.

It is a little taste of paradise here. But after breakfast and check in, I was in a weird place emotionally and physically. Like out of my zone. I didn’t remember my dreams from last night, which I usually do, and I felt uneasy and off on different levels. Is it a female thing or is it just a ‘thing’ that happens to you some days? I have no clue. but it wasn’t until I sat down in the hotel bar and engaged in conversation with the locals that I forgot about my own pathetic pitty party and snapped out of it. Whatever ‘it’ was, it decided to leave me alone. But I sense a change of pace in and around me. Like my body needs to decompose, recuperate and it asks for some time to do so right here and right now…. I’m old enough to know that a struggle is a struggle lost. The body is always wiser than the mind and ego. So all I can do is give in and let go…

I bid you a good night from Greece…

Taking it Down a Notch

Mid July came around. Man, did the time since Christmas just fly like a G5 or what? I can’t believe I left wonderful and high paced NYC less than 5 days ago. It seems like months have passed in no time. I said goodbye to NYC only to spend one day and night in sleepy and heat-struck Copenhagen with my family and friends before I repacked my bags and headed to Greece with another part of my family. For those not familiar with my domestic status I have a rather large family pretty much spread all over the world.

However, there was some sort of strike in Greece, which made our journey south bound a hassle to say the least. Soooo much time waisted in airports….. Gosh! I’m thrilled that the Pinot Grigio is drinkable at the Italian place in the airport of Copenhagen.

Anyways, now we are here under the Greek sun right at the beach smothered in spf 50, moussaka and no internet or phone reception. Talking about taking it down a notch – anyone….??? I, still being some sort of jet-lagged between LA, NYC, CPH and Greece time zones get up at the crack of dawn to jog and swim. Since there is absolutely nothing else to do here at this hour it has become my ambition to get into bad-ass shape before I hit the West Coast again mid August.

This afternoon I escaped from more group activities and online celibacy and I strayed off like a guilty male cat from the pack with my newly acquired golden Marc Jacobs lab-top bag under my arm to find the local bar ‘Bossa Nova’ (yes, that’s the hot spot here)  where they serve other food than Moussaka and more importantly; they have wireless.

So from all of us here in The Mediterranean to all of you in the different time zones… Sunshine, feta, hairy backs, love, light, moussaka and blessing…

I’m wearing: Object dress, Object tank top, Chanel Purse, vintage jewelry, vintage shades

From bad-ass Rock’n’Roll to Super deluxe!

Yesterday we left the laid back Montauk way of living to test out another type of lifestyle in Bridge Hampton. Here, we were invited to stay in the most gorgeous 20+ bedroom mansion owned by a friend of a friend. 3 other girls came out from Manhattan to double the party, we took a peak in the wine cellar and … ha ha … well… the day became one long bliss under the sun in the chilled pool.

Later the 2 guys , who take care of the house came to pick us up and we went to the private beach with food, more wine and lit up a bonfire. The guys are from Brazil so they danced capoeira and taught us samba. Today I’m really happy it was  just us at the beach. We must have been a sight for sore eyes…

Later again we went back to the house and jumped in the pool and jacuzzi.

That was one amazing day with the girls!!!!

I have a couple of more hours here and then I’m Manhattan bound.

4th of July

I arrived yesterday late afternoon in Montauk and checked into the old school ’shabby-chic’ hotel called  Memory Motel. Hot spot in the 70’s for peeps like The Rolling Stones, Warhol and the likes. Now…. ha ha …. well, the new owners are these cool, young guys who know what’s up. they took over the joint one month ago, but they have decided to wait with the whole renovation process till December. So, the rooms are very ‘authentic’. I have absolutely no problem with this ‘realism’. On the contrary. I think it’s very rock’n’roll. And anyways, who wants to stay in their room when the beach is miles of pure white sand and deep, blue waves.

On 4th of July I hosted a party out here and it got pretty insane after 1 a.m. More than a 1000 peeps showed up and 2 bands performed.

The next morning my 2 girls Giada and Tine came out from Manhattan. They woke me up and dragged me straight down to the beach where we jumped right into the waves. Soooo amazing and way warmer than the Pacific. Then we went for lunch in Montauk Habour and caught up on all the gossip that has been going down since May over a bottle of Sancerre.

Here are a couple of shots …

Summer’s travel tip – Isle of Capri

[ Via Le Journal Noir ]

If you’re in a relationship and looking for a special non typical tourist place to go for the summer I can highly recommend the Italian island Capri, a picturesque lux-bohemian paradise in southern Italy. I was there some years ago with a girlfriend, and even though we had a blast I would say it’s better suited for couples. So if you’re planning going somewhere with your boyfriend/girlfriend and you guys haven’t really made up your mind about where to go – go to Capri :) It’s breathtakingly beautiful.

All work and still play?

My Capetonian friend Jaco shot a David Guetta music video last fall. On Ibiza. Of course I thought it was cheasy to work with D.G but still – I was sitting back in becoming-pretty-cold Berlin. No 28 degrees, no pool, no hot guys and no exotic drinks while working.

My other friend Lone spends every summer on Ibiza working with communication for We Love Space. From May till June.

Audrey on the other hand works for Shiseido and spends alot of time on planes – inbetween Berlin, Brussels, Paris, London. Seems she likes flying because when she’s not working she’s on the plane to Barcelona, Miami, Rumania and Ibiza to attend all sorts of parties and events – always visiting friends.

My point is: I need to work on my set-up here!!
