All Clean

Even though I do not have an education from La Mer or La Prairie. I’m not even a beauty school drop out. But by birth I am given the most annoyingly sensitive skin and system, that gets affected by anything and everything. Food, stress, work conditions, weather. You name it. So I’m very alert to every little detail and change within, on and around me.

This might not make me a beauty expert on paper. But I know damn well if a creme works after you have been on a flight for 11 hours (since I fly all the time) or what scrub is best after 8 days in the jungle on a film location, or what eye relief to splatter on after a really ‘interesting’ and long night out on town.

So here it goes!

I tested these products from Nimue and I have to say that I’m pretty damn pleased with the result so far.

In the beginning my skin freaked out completely with breakouts, and I even had some weird itching going on. I almost dropped the whole thing. However, after a week using the line persistently my skin looks so much better and feels much softer, moist and clean than before.

My favorite product so far (I still have to try some of the masks) is the so called ‘Alpha Lipoic Activator’. Long name. I know. And in combination with the Purifying creme it does the job. I hate sounding like a beauty ad, but hands down; I’m only preaching the remedy I take myself.

You can probably find the products from Nimue online. But I got them at the spa I always visit when in Copenhagen called Dollface.

Actually, I’ve been contemplating doing an international Spa Guide between Copenhagen, NYC, Las Vegas and LA. Stay tuned for that.

‘Till then, here are the products I’ve been testing:
30ml alpha lipoic activator

My favorite product!!! I use it twice a day and especially good around the eyes. You are only supposed to use it 3 times a week. I definitely overused it. But it’s such a treat!!!!

nimue pacts

This baby is a bit harsh, but it goes very well with the serum in blue tube above. It’s a creme. Use this one first and then apply the serum from the blue tube on top and you will be fine the rest of the day.

cleansing GELnimue pacts

Cleanser and toner. Not rocket science. Not even for me. I like the cleanser a lot. it does the job. Gets rid of all the dirt and makeup in no time. The toner is a bit harsh, but good after a long day out in a big, poluted city like for instance NYC or LA.

Enjoy!!!

With no relation to fashion whatsoever: How amazing would it be to have a tree hut hidden in the woods for a random getaway? And with a bed like those on the photos by Danish photographer Ditte Isager. Check out her blog featuring her work!

Taking it Down a Notch

Mid July came around. Man, did the time since Christmas just fly like a G5 or what? I can’t believe I left wonderful and high paced NYC less than 5 days ago. It seems like months have passed in no time. I said goodbye to NYC only to spend one day and night in sleepy and heat-struck Copenhagen with my family and friends before I repacked my bags and headed to Greece with another part of my family. For those not familiar with my domestic status I have a rather large family pretty much spread all over the world.

However, there was some sort of strike in Greece, which made our journey south bound a hassle to say the least. Soooo much time waisted in airports….. Gosh! I’m thrilled that the Pinot Grigio is drinkable at the Italian place in the airport of Copenhagen.

Anyways, now we are here under the Greek sun right at the beach smothered in spf 50, moussaka and no internet or phone reception. Talking about taking it down a notch – anyone….??? I, still being some sort of jet-lagged between LA, NYC, CPH and Greece time zones get up at the crack of dawn to jog and swim. Since there is absolutely nothing else to do here at this hour it has become my ambition to get into bad-ass shape before I hit the West Coast again mid August.

This afternoon I escaped from more group activities and online celibacy and I strayed off like a guilty male cat from the pack with my newly acquired golden Marc Jacobs lab-top bag under my arm to find the local bar ‘Bossa Nova’ (yes, that’s the hot spot here)  where they serve other food than Moussaka and more importantly; they have wireless.

So from all of us here in The Mediterranean to all of you in the different time zones… Sunshine, feta, hairy backs, love, light, moussaka and blessing…

I’m wearing: Object dress, Object tank top, Chanel Purse, vintage jewelry, vintage shades

Nicaragua Love

2 days have flown by now since I arrived in Nicaragua and I’m smitten by it’s imperfect beauty, smell, atmosphere and vibe. This is a chilled place if I ever saw one… No stress, but a lot of rum, ripe fruits, gorgeous people and sun. Perfect!

We have spent the last 2 days in Granada shooting and sight seeing. One night some of us went down to the local school Clarita Feliz founded and managed by Peter Kolind where we helped serve food for the poorest of the children in the community. This particular night there were about 450 children sitting at the tables waiting to be fed. Sometimes there are hundreds more. While they wait for dinner to be cooked some of the children put on shows on a small stage for entertainment. It was a touching and intense experience. For many of these kids this meal is the only meal they get each day.

Then I’ve been out sailing on Lake Nicaragua – the 7th largest lake in the world with fresh water sharks and tons of islands. You can actually buy your own island if you please. 30.000 – 150.000 usd for your own piece of land in the middle of the lake. Very exclusive… except, it’s hard to bring water to the island, which makes it hard to live out there.

I’m leaving Granada in an hour and headed to the beach, but here are some photos in random order from my experiences…

Psst – the pink tank top is from Object

Thomas from the team & I smoking cigars

Smoking; yay or nay?

smoking

I used to smoke cigarettes. And I loved it. I considered smoking 4-5 minutes of pure peace. When I smoked a cigarette, nothing ran through my mind. Then I quit – for no reason. I just did not feel like smoking anymore. I did not go through withdrawals, I did not experience cravings and that was that. I still smoke every few months but I no longer smoke on a regular basis. I absolutely enjoy cigarettes but I hate the stigma that comes with it, which I suspect led to my quitting because usually if you’re smoking in public someone just has to mention how bad it is for you and what it can do to you. I always appreciate the concern, but I honestly feel like everyone nowadays is aware of the harm that smoking can cause - yes, smokers know that smoking is bad for the body, but some of us just don’t care sometimes. So thank you, but no thank you :)

Do any of you smoke? What are your feelings about cigarettes?

The Wild Wild West

When the going get’s tough, the tough get’s going. That’s how we roll out here in The Wild Wild West.

Personally, I dig the whole moccasin, Western look. I’m soooo easily inspired by the natives in this area. The colors, the atmosphere, the crisp clean air, the down to earth and wholesome attitude towards nature and life. It’s profound and indeed very healing…

Here are some looks and pics from my New Mexican lifestyle….

The local News Paper

IMG_0005

Tumble weeds have always fascinated me… And I have seen so many of them on my trip through California, Arizona and New Mexico. They are always busy tumbling around in the street going neither here nor there…. they seem so lost… with no direction…

I spotted a big one resting against a blue fence.

Even though it is peaceful I still think it looks alienated and sad in this world..

ha ha this is what the locals do for …fun..????!? :-)

Im going to bed right now, early for once. In some way I can’t sleep anymore, I rarely dream and if I do its always nightmares. Before I always remember my dreams, but now it seems like I cant. Im really considering buying a dreamcatcher. The Native Americans believe bad dreams stays in the net of the dreamcatcher and disappear with the light of day. Good dreams passes through and slide down the feathers to the sleeper… I believe in magical and supernatural stuff, so this might work on me. Anyone tried one?

Flawless Skin in LA

IMG_0007

If anything, Los Angeles is ‘looks-matters-central’. Sophisticated 300 dollar lotions, botox, fillers, push-ins/ups and teeth whiteners make sure that the not always sophisticated girls and guys on the Strip look flawless in whatever light that hits them. So if you are visiting and want a taste of the glam without going all the way with fillers, needles, nips and tucks I have the perfect spot.

Dr. Berkley Skin & Body gives the best microdermabrasion I’ve tried since my visit to Christine Chin’s salon in New York City.

I had my appointment this morning and my skin feels baby-soft :-)

Yoga Baby!

Sore back, stressful lifestyle or too many fights with your hubby?

Assume your favorite yoga position and find some peace…or find even more agony because you can’t get the poses right. Well, now at least you can feel a little cool when and if you decide to give yoga a shot.

Also if you are speculating what to get your sister or BFF for Christmas, this might do the trick. Recently I heard about this new co-friendly, customize-able yoga mats from Yogamatic. Yes, you can design your own mat. Kind of cool.

But I’m that type of person that falls in love with the idea of designing your own mat, but never gets it done. So I chose a mat already in the collection.

This baby: It’s called ‘Bolly’. They say that it’s Kate Hudson’s favorite, which certainly is a plus in my book and I like the Bollywood-ish look of it:

What’s better than doing the tree-pose while peaking down at a peaceful, cross-legged Buddha..?

For the fashion addicts this mat does the job. Blahnik, Choo, Louboutin, YSL and Prada stilettos paint a beautiful kaleidoscopic picture on this mat.
